I was excited to learn that Ai Ais stands for ‘burning water’ in the language of the Khoi Khoi's hours before our arrival. Our route through Namibia is just roughly planned but our stop overs are picked spontaneously.

The Hot Springs Spa Resort was a great camping site. The clean bathrooms and outside kitchen facilities positively reshaped my perception of camping. The 24/7 accessible outdoor thermal pool was the highlight of our stay there.

Fish River Canyon

We admired the Fish River Canyon on our way to Lüderitz at the Atlantic coast, thanks to an overheard conversation of a tour guide and his passengers. Our five hour long drive to the next town ‘Aus’ was only interrupted by the sighting of this potential wild ‘Wüsten-Pferd’.
